1. OS
I haven't tried anything else besides windows 7 (preferably installed in a new pc) and a windows 8.1 (installed in laptops) and both of them work like wonders. I haven't touched windows 10 yet, but this 2 OSes.. have been providing good usability for me. Just remember to turn off the updates as soon as you get to the desktop.
2. Chrome
Yes we have Internet Explorer by default, but who uses it except to download chrome. lol. The gate to the underworld nd beyond, yes.. the internet.
3. WinRAR
This might be the first program that you want to download from your chrome. A winrar helps you unzipping the download package you get from the web.
4. Daemon Tools Lite
Daemon provides us to make a logical image of a cd into the drive. So it's like you're having a cd/dvd inserted in your dvd rom, only to find the cd is just an image generated by the program. Good for applications that requires old-school installation such as MS office, Adobes, and even some games as well.
5. "The Drivers"
As in the laptop or the PC drivers. You may get those from the cds included in your shopping package, however... mostly we are too lazy or either have lost it along the way. worry not, nowadays computer brands have provided those drivers online through their web. Although OS nowadays are smart enough to handle the hardwares by themselves, you might want to secure your dedicated drivers for: audio, graphics, and video.
6. IDM
Don't even get me started to download the rest of the lists without this baby. I'd rather have IDM installed after the drivers, since you might get viruses or errors during the process of activaton... if you use the pirated one. Make sure you get to backup and restore your data first before installing this baby. But once you have settled into the right one, you'll be having a good time downloading things.
7. K-Lite Codec Pack
We have spent hours just to set up our new PC, and we should be rewarded! A music or film in the background might be a great idea to accompany us for our work while you can get it online from youtube, you might want to play your latest tv series you get from the web. This is the time that codec pack comes in handy. It lets you read all sorts type of media files you get.
8. Microsoft Office
The truest purpose of us having a PC.
9. PDF Reader
Being a student, this is one of those softwares you desperately need. When you work, this always comes in handy. Who doesn't use pdf?
10. Adobe Master Collection
While some of us don't even bother using the products Adobe offers, but you have to admit that most of the 'power' of modern computer comes from this package: photoshop and after effect. I'd suggest you to have it installed in your system, coz there'll be times when you or colleague using your system need to use them.
